SEL helps in character education

As we educators are emphasizing on whole child, we're also aware of the fact that the behavior of students in the school is inappropriate and need to be amended. The concept of teaching heart with head is the need of the hour. The role of Social and Emotional learning (SEL) in building a character is so paramount that it's being accepted as a new paradigm in achieving the aim of  balanced and motivated children. SEL is necessary for success in both school and life. SEL facilitates the students to recognize and manage emotions, develop concern for others, make responsible decisions, maintain a positive healthy relationship and handles the adverse situations effectively. SEL helps to develop a strong foundation in the form of a character whose fruits will be enjoyed by the learners in his/her entire life time.

Workshop on Growth Mindset

“The strongest people are not those who always win, but those who do not give up when they lose” Cultivating a growth mindset in students can be quite tricky and educators all over the world have been trying their best to inculcate this among students. Mr. Mohammad Imran, growth mindset educator at IISJ took the initiative to organise a workshop on developing growth mindset among students. On 26th April, 2015, 100 odds students of classes XIB3&B4 gathered in School’s auditorium to participate in this unique workshop. The event started with recitation of few verses from Holy Al-Qur’an by Master Abdullah of grade XIB4, followed by introductory note by Master Rami Latheef of grade XIB3. Almost twelve years in teaching and still enjoying!!!

Well, it has almost been twelve years to me in this vocation and honestly speaking over these years there have never been a day when I've not enjoyed teaching and being around with children. My passion for teaching is growing every single day. When I see children coming to school with lots of family and self expectations of bringing about the best in themselves that is the motivating factor which beholds me back even in some odds circumstances. Learning process in action of each student also excite me to hold on. In every class I try to make a human connection by resorting to discussions, peer teaching and giving a comfortable and ease feeling to children.  Look forward to read your insights in the comment section how you people feel being in this vocation of teaching.

A Teacher in 21st century

Teaching has never been as difficult as now, as important as now and as demanding for the success of students as now. Today's teachers are supposed to not only deliver the core subjects' content to the students but also prepare them to be adaptable to emerging diverse faces of the society.  As there have been exponential changes in the world, to prepare our students to withstand such changes our lessons must go beyond "3R's and foster 21st century skills. Critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity will be essential for students to take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Teacher Empowerment

Teacher empowerment is a key issue which is neglected in most of the schools. Teacher empowerment is a process where efficient teachers take charge of their own growth and resolve their own problems. Empowered teachers believe that they have skills and knowledge to act on a situation and improve it. Teacher empowerment also delve into: Teachers must have a right to decide what is to be taught and how to be taught? Teachers must be given freedom to change and control the academic environment Professional development of teachers must be a continuous process Overall a productive and conducing environment must be maintained in school to make teaching and learning process effective and everlasting. Every child is unique

Every child is unique and has his own pace of development, but our examination oriented education cause him to feel that he's not good enough. In this scenario, the role of school and parents is pivotal in nurturing the child as per his abilities and encourage him to be resilient.

Tips for Career making!!

Grade XII results are declared, students are in quandary what career they must pursue so that money start rolling in for them in future. While taking an important decision regarding career, bear in mind the following points: • Pursue the program of your interest • Don’t take decision with peer or parents pressure • Do a thorough research about college/university selection • A college must be chosen on the parameters like, infrastructure, quality of academic, research, enhancement of skills, fees, placement, recognition, faculties/teachers and overall ranking in India. • Don’t pursue online/distance mode learning if you’re not engaged in morning time, because when you go for regular college you develop your overall personality. Remember their are job opportunities in every field provided you've a mixed bag of academic acumen and skills. Wishing you all success for your future endeavors..
